Joette Greenstein, DO, AAHPM, CWSP is the Columbus, Ohio, medical director for VITAS® Healthcare, the nation’s leading provider of end-of-life care. Dr. Greenstein oversees the medical care and treatment of VITAS patients in their homes, nursing homes, assisted living communities, and personal care homes in the metropolitan Columbus area. She consults with patients' attending physicians, supervises VITAS team physicians, and educates other healthcare professionals on the benefits of hospice and palliative care for patients and their families. Dr. Greenstein has been a clinical assistant professor of family medicine at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine since 2012. She teaches hospice and palliative medicine to third- and fourth-year medical students. She joined VITAS as a team physician in 2012 and was named medical director in 2013. She brings over 30 years of experience as a physician to VITAS, with a background in family practice, geriatrics, hospice and palliative care, and wound management. Dr. Greenstein received her osteopathic medical degree from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. She completed her family practice internship and residency at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She has also completed a fellowship in academic medicine at Northeastern Medical School in Rootstown, Ohio. Dr. Greenstein is dual-certified by the American Osteopathic Board in Family Medicine and Hospice & Palliative Medicine. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. In 2019, she became board-certified as a certified wound care specialist (CWSP) from the American Board of Wound Management.
